Questions & answers
How can we help?
Answers about our saffron, finishing salts, orders and delivery.
Saffron
What makes Luxury Tastes Super Negin saffron special?
It is the highest grade of saffron: only the long, crimson tips of each stigma, hand-selected and free of yellow style. The result is intense colour, a honeyed aroma and a clean finish without bitterness — recognised with a Great Taste 2025 two-star award.
How can I be sure your saffron is authentic?
Every batch is traceable from harvest to jar and packed in Birmingham. You can check it yourself, too: genuine threads release a slow golden colour in warm water, flare into a small trumpet at one end and smell of honey and hay.
How much saffron should I use?
Very little — about 0.1 g (15 to 20 threads) for a dish serving four. Lightly crush the threads and steep them in a few tablespoons of warm water, stock or milk for 15 minutes before adding.
How do I store saffron?
In an airtight container in a cool, dark cupboard, away from moisture. Stored well, it keeps its best character for around two years.
What is the difference between Super Negin and other grades?
Super Negin keeps only the longest, thickest red tips. Grades such as Pushal and Bunch include yellow style, which adds weight but not colour or flavour. See our full grading table in the Saffron Guide.
Can saffron be used in desserts and drinks?
Absolutely — in custards, ice cream, buns, poached fruit, lattes, teas and cocktails. It pairs beautifully with rosewater, cardamom, honey and citrus.
Is saffron suitable for all diets?
Pure saffron threads are naturally vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and keto-friendly, with nothing added.
Finishing salts
What is Persian Blue Salt?
A rare natural rock salt with striking sapphire flecks, formed over millions of years. Its colour comes from the natural mineral sylvite. It has a gentle, rounded saltiness that makes it a superb finishing salt.
How should I use blue salt or Saffron Desert Salt?
As a finishing touch, just before serving — over steak, seafood, salads, eggs, roasted vegetables or even dark chocolate. Grind or crush the crystals for an even sprinkle.
What is Saffron Desert Salt?
Our exclusive blend of ancient Kalahari desert salt, double-infused with a full gram of Super Negin saffron and presented in a refillable grinder. It adds a glint of gold and a soft, floral warmth.
